RESEARCH AREAS



Involved in jute genomics, with targeted research objectives to develop a reference chromosome-scale genome of Corchorus olitorius cv; JRO-524 by refining its draft genome via PacBio long-read and isoform sequencing followed by Illumina Hi-Ci optical mapping and constructing ultra-high-density interspecific C. capsularis x C. olitorius and/or C. olitorius MAGIC genetic maps by genotyping-by-sequencing, and to use these and earlier developed jute genomic/ transcriptomic resources to map QTL and/or eQTL for bast fibre quality traits including lignin content, root architectural traits including NUE, yield and yield components, with an extended focus on genetically dissecting the trait ‘pre-mature’ flowering in C. olitorius.
